BRIEF HISTORY

1982: I am born on March 23rd at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, by Caesarean section. I don't remember any of it, naturally.

1983: Nope, still nothing.

1984: I have a dim memory of being at the local mall on the night that the first Ghostbusters movie was released, but that might have been a dream. Or it might've been the second movie. Either way, it's unreliable.

1985: I start reading at the age of three.

1986-1990: I attend Montessori school. It's pretty awesome. My life is also pretty much wall-to-wall Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at this point.

1991: I start at Pine View School in fourth grade. Turns out, it's pretty awesome too. I meet my best friend Jeremy at this time, though for the life of me I cannot remember how.

1992: I discover comic books, through the agency of an older kid named Joel on my school bus and the craze of trading Marvel Universe cards.

1993-1995: Nothing particularly remarkable happens beyond me buying my first CD, which is the soundtrack to the Jim Carrey film The Mask. I really liked "Cuban Pete." I also watch a lot of The X-Files.

1996: I hear U2's Achtung Baby and Zooropa at a friend's house and become addicted. Later that year, I start high school (still at Pine View).

1997: U2's Pop is released, and I buy it on the first day. Unlike 90% of the world, I find it to be awesome. I also join my school's Drama League, which winds up being the primary extracurricular and social engine of my high school career, and all of my closest friends to this day stem from it. Also, I'm pretty sure it was sometime this year that I figured out I was gay, while reading Clive Barker's Sacrament in our local Barnes & Noble. Quite a year, 1997.

1998: I get involved in a crazy online comics 'zine called Voice & Vision, run by a charismatic guy in the Bronx named Stefan. Eventually myself and the other staff spin off into a separate 'zine, first titled Yadda Yadda Yadda and later Dangerous Calligraphy, which I am the editor of at the ripe old age of fifteen. This was my first exposure to web design and HTML. I also get my first job as a cashier at a nearby Publix, and read my first issue of The Invisibles (vol. 2 #13), which quickly becomes my favorite comic ever.

1999: I visit NYU and resolve that I must attend it. I also go to a really great Y2K New Year's party.

2000: I graduate from high school and get in to NYU. On October 23rd, I start this weblog at Geocities, under the title Not Enough Of Me, a reference to Gavin Friday's excellent song "Caruso." I cast my first vote, by absentee ballot in Florida, for Al Gore. Hey, I tried!

2001: This was a really, really fun, awesome year for me, except for September 11th. That bit sucked. And yeah, I was in NYC at the time; in fact I watched the first tower fall with my own eyes. On a more positive note, I come out to my friends and blog audience, one year after starting the site, which had moved in April to its current URL; plus, I start writing for U2log as the Elevation tour gets underway.

2002: This year is dominated by two momentous events: My discovery of Andrew W.K., and my discovery of my first boyfriend, Josh. I also come out to my immediate family, which goes quite well, and take an internship at MCT Management, the firm who represents Moby. I also introduce August, my roommate at the time, to the concept of blogging, and now his site is about ten times more popular than mine. Le sigh.

2003: I spend the spring semester in London, which was kind of depressing at the time but which in retrospect was actually really enjoyable. In the fall I start an internship at V2 Records which lasts for my entire senior year.

2004: I graduate from NYU with a B.A. in English, a minor in Creative Writing, and absolutely no marketable skills. (I listen to The Replacements' "Bastards Of Young" a lot shortly before graduation.) I then return home to Florida to work as a camp counselor for the summer, killing time until my friend and prospective roommate Ashley can return to NYC. In August we get a really nice apartment in Brooklyn, which is great, but I am unemployed for the entire rest of the year, which is really awful.

2005: Finally, in early February, I land a job at one of my all-time dream employers, DC Comics. Josh and I break up, for good this time, which sucks. I move into a small apartment in the infinitely better neighborhood of Greenpoint, Brooklyn (while still rooming with Ashley). Stay tuned from here on out for further developments...

Likes: Comic books, pop music, junk food, book learnin', sunlight, warm weather, Florida, guys, dogs, New England accents, dinosaurs, ninjas, and intriguing sea life, particularly whales and giant squid.
Dislikes: Vegetables, winter, long hair on men, Republicanism in general but certainly George W. Bush in particular, the Union Square 4-5-6 platform, most television, ignorance of the world around oneself, and browsers that don't render my site properly.
