F.A.Q.
(1.) Who are you?

Well, for the full details, check out the Chris section of the site. But, here's a thumbnail sketch: I'm Chris Conroy, 20 years old, originally from Florida but currently attending New York University. I really like music. And comic books, as even a cursory glance at the blog will reveal. I hope to work in one of those fields someday, though God knows I shouldn't hold my breath.

And yeah, that's me in the li'l black-and-white mugshot in the blog logo.

(2.) What's a weblog?

Tougher question than you'd think. I define it as a rolling journal on the Web where an author (or authors) shares anything he or she wants with his or her audience -- personal info, interesting links, et cetera. My "blog," DO YOU FEEL LOVED?, is a combination of the two. Some people prefer to restrict themselves to one or the other; I don't.

(3.) What's the point of this?

To amuse myself and others, really. Yeah, it's also an emotional outlet sometimes, but that gets tricky since many people I know read this. Soooo don't expect to get the complete picture of my life from this site -- I share a lot, but not EVERYTHING. It also keeps me writing, which is one of my greatest passions...

(4.) Will you link to me?

Maybe. But please don't ask me to. I love to check out other people's blogs, so if you feel like saying "hi" to me you can drop me an e-mail and subtly include your link, but this is not a guarantee of a link back. I just don't do the link-exchange thing; if I really dig your site I'll definitely plug it, but I don't link indiscriminately. Don't take it personally, please.

(5.) Can I have your children?

I'm not an egotist (well, OK, I am, but) -- I honestly do get this question all the time. The answer, sadly, is no -- I'm gay, and taken. (Seriously. Sounds like a cheap excuse but both facts are true.)

(6.) What's your favorite ______?
  • Album: Achtung Baby by U2.
  • Musician(s): U2, R.E.M., Gavin Friday, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Smashing Pumpkins, and PJ Harvey. For starters. Check out my CD collection for a more complete picture.
  • Movie: Moulin Rouge.
  • Novel: The Ground Beneath Her Feet by Salman Rushdie.
  • Writer(s): Salman Rushdie, Philip K. Dick, Warren Ellis, and Grant Morrison.
  • Comic: The Invisibles.
  • Weblog: Prolific.
  • City: New York, baby.
  • Food: Fajitas.
  • Color: Blue.
  • Swimming-Pool Temperature: 88 Fahrenheit.
  • Aquatic Animal: Dolphin.
  • Letter: X.
  • Beverage: Coke.
  • Jelly Bean Flavor: Watermelon.
  • Character From The Television Series "ALF": Alf.
Is that at all satisfying?

(7.) Can I steal your code?

Hoooo boy. You may take bits and pieces of code from the site, yes, simply to learn how to do them for yourselves. That's how the web works. HOWEVER, please give credit where credit is due (ESPECIALLY for the code I borrowed from other people -- those bits are marked in the source), and DO NOT rip off the look of my site. Trust me, you won't get away with it -- see my January and May 2002 archives for examples of people getting caught doing that.

(8.) Can I have a weblog too?

Yes, and I encourage you to do so. To get started, just go to Blogger and sign up for an account, and get their free Blogspot hosting, and you'll be off and running! You could also try Livejournal, or, if you've already got your own site and know your way around HTML and CGI and other complicated codes, you could try Movable Type.

(9.) You sure about the children?

Yes. Sorry.
