FUCK MTV! is the brainchild of Eddie Munoz. It started life in March 2001 at his personal site, halo33.com, and moved to its current address in July 2001. It was a "Blog Of Note" at blogger.com within a month of its launch.
Basically, the point is to review music videos. Big surprise. We all love music here, and we all agree that a video can be entertaining and creative and original. It's just a shame that so many aren't. So if we find ourselves disappointed by a video -- and it happens a lot -- we won't hesitate to rip it a new one. We also pay lip service to the videos that impress us, so don't expect a neverending parade of negativity. But please do expect one of your favorite videos to get skewered, because let's face it, you probably listen to shitty music.
Also please note that yes, we are both ironic and sarcastic, and that if you don't get that, then don't come back.
In any event, our commentary is rarely PhD-level stuff. We're just giving you our impressions in a hopefully-entertaining manner. If you agree, then that's cool; if you don't, then whatever. We hope you're enjoying the reviews anyway. However, ridiculous hate mail addressed to the authors of a review you disagreed with doesn't do anybody any good -- you just look like an idiot and the reviewer is vindicated. If you really, really hate one of our reviewers, then please attempt to make his or her life miserable on your own time and not theirs. We recommend voodoo dolls.
The rating scale we follow runs like this:
(0) = Apocalyptically Bad
= Crappy = Merely Adequate = Quite Respectable = Really Damn Good = Perfect, FlawlessYou probably won't see that many five-star ratings, because there are very few five-star videos out there. It's simply the truth.
