A brief section singing the praises of New York advertising, and then on to a bloggerati Evening Out. Plus -- a special video bonus! Early- to mid-October 2003...
Slapped onto the uptown subway at Prince St. I don't know whose product it's promoting, but I like it already.
Imagine my surprise and pleasure at seeing a giant Bacardi ad being
hand-painted at the corner of 13th St. and 4th Avenue! I thought human endeavor in advertising died out with the advent of the giant hanging vinyl banner... huzzah for artistic spirit in the cause of crass commercialism!
Another view of that ad (it's finished now, but I don't have a picture of that yet.)
For a while there we figured this was an ad. But then we actually called the number, and it was just some dude's answering machine. Fuckin' brilliant.
Mmmmm.
Schiller's has an absolutely fantastic
steak frites. (Though it is pricey.)
Jen couldn't wait for her food, so she snacks on
Fiona's fingers.
Mirror project! Mirror project!
Jen was shocked and appalled by the bandana on the hipster behind us. (Is it the new trucker hat, or the old one?) Fiona was just amused.
Jen, Fiona, and
Karen at our post-dinner dessert at Veniero's.
It takes effort to get
Josh to look that disgusted, let me tell you. I don't remember what those girls said but it must've been naaaaasty.
For more information on the evening, why not visit
Fiona's site?
And now, as promised: A super-special exclusive video message from Jen & Fiona! (172K, .AVI file)

Aren't they sweet?
