A selection of more-or-less random pictures from November 2003 - January 2004. (That title's a NEW X-MEN quote; I've just got Cyclops on the brain and couldn't think of anything better...)
Oh look, it's two of my favorite musicans on the planet (l-r: Maurice Seezer and Gavin Friday). Fancy that.
And oh dear, another one. Fuck me. (These pictures were taken when I helped cover the
Peter And The Wolf auction for
U2log.)
Little-known fact about Bono: When out in public with somebody taller than him, he
always throws his arm around their shoulder to drag them down to his height when photographers are present. Isn't that a little bit pathetic? I mean dude, come on, you're rich and beloved, nobody's gonna freak out if they learn you're an inch shorter than average. Get over it.
My family and I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from the fourth floor of a fabric company's office on 37th & Broadway (thanks, Kristin!). If you're gonna haul yourself out at an ungodly hour on a day off to watch a bunch of people in costumes standing on trucks covered in papier-mache crawl through New York, then that's the only way to do it: indoors, out of the cold, away from the crowd, and armed with bagels. Happy Thanksgiving. These are the people across the street from us with the same right idea.
This Marx Brother (Harpo?) was having trouble keeping his head on. I laughed.
OK, Big Bird either has dreadlocks or giant alien spermatazoa hanging in front of his face. I don't understand. (And when I first read that thing in his hand, I thought it said CUBA, which struck me as a strangely progressive statement for Big Bird to be making.)
Oh, Ruben Studdard. Why do you contribute absolutely nothing to our culture? You did wave to us, though, mainly because one of the other families in the office had a big sign that said WE LOVE YOU _________, and were clever enough to write the name of whatever celebrity was passing by on a sheet of paper and hold it in front of the blank space. (Oh, and for the record, Clay Aiken's float was way better and was right near the end of the parade, just before Santa. Ruben needs to fire his managers.)
Maggie, the V2 Records office cat, under the Christmas tree. Mind you, she's still got all her claws and is an outrageous she-beast, but pictured here she's the cutest lil' kitty kitty pussums.
Neckface is ugly?!? AW SHIT, I SMELL A TAG WAR! Neckface is my hero, mainly because he has THE BEST NICKNAME EVER. Although, come to think of it, that looks like his handwriting... self-deprecating much?
My friend Mark's mom put up a Christmas Ladder this year. My friend Mark's mom is AWESOME.
Shane is a REBEL and he will take NONE OF YOUR BULLSHIT. (I was supposed to airbrush "REBEL!!!" onto this photo in 80s style lime green graffiti, but I don't have any software I can do that with easily. Ah well.)
*NanoSentinelInfectedJeanGrey* "Scott... you're my favorite superhero." */NanoSentinelInfectedJeanGrey* Man oh man, Cyclops rocks. For the record, Josh bought this figure for me for Christmas, but who am I kidding, I would've paid good money for it anyway. Am I a lovable dork, or just a dork? Answers on a postcard, please.

I randomly came upon your sight on a Google search for "Parting is such sweet sorrow," for my I'm quitting my job goodbye cards. What a wonderful diversion to pass these last few days, thanks. And best adventures to you in London. d

That was a phoenix quote, of course. I had mixed feelings about the Planet X arc, although a lot of it was really poignant in a surrealist nightmare version of the xmen way.
