03.29.2004 | God Save Brooklyn

<< Previously  |  What's Next >>

Yep, it's still another mixed bag of random photos from January to March 2004. I took very few photos during this time, so this is the best of a particularly crappy litter. Man, I really know how to sell my product, don't I...

The scariest motherfucking crab ever to scuttle across the sands of a silent sea. Or, as the case may be, to sit like a turd on top of other giant crabs in a Chinatown dim-sum tank. In any event, this thing made me fear for my dominance as a homo sapiens sapiens. (Look kids, it's a video bonus! Watch it try to eat my finger! OK, not really. That's a .AVI file, 1.9 MB)

My rigorous anthropological research on New York's subways indicates that I am the only person in the world who wears their iPod headphones like this, actually slid partially into the ear canal, instead of resting on the outer ear with the speaker pointed inwards. I find the sound is a thousand times better this way, and they actually stay put, and it's entirely painless. Do I just have strangely enormous ear canals? Anyone? I actually don't like using the iPod's included headphones, since their sound's not that hot and I really hate the way everyone uses them to show off the fact that they've got a 'Pod, but my old headphones broke and I'm just too poor to buy new ones. (More rigorous anthropological research, i.e. looking at this photo, indicates that I am going bald. Fux0r.)

That turned out a little better than I expected it to. And I think that might be my friend Jackie faintly visible in the front window of the train, which is a happy accident that I couldn't have predicted.

I love the tile mosaics at the Lorimer St. L / Metropolitan Ave. G station. I keep meaning to get a shot of each one (there are four or five all together) and never do.

I also love the tile mosaics at the 66th St. 1/9 station, but this picture came out way blurrier than I wanted it to. Grr.

Two shots of a very cool graffitti wall in Williamsburg.

The only picture I took on my entire spring break, believe it or not, and it's from the flight back. I am a Lamey McLamepants. And for the record, that's rural Georgia rolling out before you...

I was wondering what your new stop is! How far are you from Pratt? I go out there every Sunday to visit my friends for dinner...

I hate you both. I've been back to New York just once since I met you, and it makes want to be there more. Why do I keep winding up in the back ass of nowhere? (Not that the shit can't be fun here, but, y'know...)

Awesome pics man. I (like others) am happy to stumble across them, even if I missed the boat by a few months. Quick ?: where're those walls @, specifically the "God Save Brooklyn?" I'd love to know.

Your pictures are amazing. Do you have a policy on allowing others to use them for photoshop purposes? Please reply... I especially like the glass bells picture.
