Springtime in Connecticut, from a visit to my grandfather's house in late April 2004...

It's very, very easy to take good pictures of flowers. Brace yourself, there's going to be a lot of them in this gallery. I'm the crappiest of crappy photobloggers.

Doggy springtime romp! Molly, my sister's Maltese, is now accustomed to being a pavement-and-asphalt city dog, but here she's getting a change to enjoy an honest-to-goodness front yard for the first time in a long while.

More flowers. They were very nice.

And, ahem, more flowers.

Doggy springtime romp actually ended pretty quickly, because Molly is a fat lazy turd.

This doggy wasn't springtime-romping much either, but then again, she was nailed to the mailbox, so I don't blame her.

Don't hit me. I was desperate to take pictures of things, since I hadn't touched my camera in weeks.

Man, I love climbing trees. I used to be able to get much higher in this tree when I was little. I chalk it up to my wearing inadequate shoes on this day, and not to my being out of shape and inflexible. Ahem.

This is a cell phone tower made to look like a tree, somewhere on the Merritt Parkway. It is fooling nobody.

On the way back into the city, the West Side Highway was jammed with people ogling the ginormous Queen Mary, which was set to leave that night. This picture doesn't give an adequate sense of scale, but trust me, it was ginormous.

Comments.

Oh gosh, I live right near the cell phone tree. I drive past it whenever I go up to school. At first I laughed at it--well, at first I was just kind of stunned that someone thought it was a good idea, and then I laughed. But after you pass it thirty or forty times, it really does begin to just sort of fade into the background. It really does work.

(Of course, it seems likely that it would fade into the background just as much if it were a plain old pole.)

The phone-tree gave me my best laugh all day. I know they do that in the UK too, but I've never seen one. (Because that's the point, I guess?)
